The story of Hatim Tai's daughter and son presence in the presence of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his conversion to Islam.

In Rabi al-Akhr 29 Hijri, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) sent one hundred and fifty horsemen under the command of Hazrat Ali (RA) to demolish the shrine of the tribe of "Tai".

These people reached the city of Fils and demolished the Batkhana and after capturing some camels and goats and arresting some women, these people brought them to Madinah.  Among these prisoners was the daughter of the famous Sakhi Hatim Tai.  Hatim Tai's son Adi bin Hatim ran away to the country of Syria.  When the daughter of Hatim Ta'i was presented to the Messenger of Allah, he said, "I am the daughter of Hatim Ta'i."  I am weak, you favor me, God will favor you.

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) left them and provided a camel for the journey.  She became a Muslim and went to her brother Udi bin Hatim and informed him about the ethics of Prophethood and praised the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) a lot.  Udi bin Hatim was greatly affected by hearing the great character and noble habits of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) from his sister and came to Medina without asking for any peace.  The people gave the news in the Prophet's court that ``Adi bin Hatim has arrived.

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) graciously took the hand of Udi bin Hatim in his hand of mercy and said:

 O Adi!

 What did you run from?

Did you run away from saying (لا إلهَ إِلَّا اللہ)

there is no god but Allah?

Is there any other god besides God?

Adi bin Hatim said no, then he recited the word and became a Muslim. His acceptance of Islam made the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) so happy that his face began to shine with great joy and he blessed him with special blessings.

Hazrat Udi bin Hatim (RA) was also very generous like his father Hatim.  Hazrat Imam Ahmad has narrated that someone asked him for one hundred dirhams, then he was shocked and said that you only asked me for one hundred dirhams, you do not know that I am the son of Hatim.

 swear to God !

I will not give you such a paltry amount.

These are very wonderful Companions, during the Caliphate of Siddique Akbar, when many tribes stopped their Zakat and many became apostates, they remained steadfast on Islam like a mountain and brought Zakat of their people to the court of the Caliphate.  He participated in the conquests of Iraq and other Islamic Jihads as a Mujahid and passed away in 68 AH at the age of one hundred and twenty years.
