Holy Prophet's wives and their homes
Because of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), his wives also have a very high position. Many verses of the Qur'an were revealed in his honor, in which his greatness is mentioned. Therefore, Allah Ta'ala said in the Holy Qur'an:
یٰنِسَآءَ النَّبِیِّ لَسْتُنَّ كَاَحَدٍ مِّنَ النِّسَآءِ اِنِ اتَّقَیْتُنَّ
Ahzaab verse: 32)
Translation: O wife of the Prophet! You are not like other women if you fear Allah.
In the second verse he said:
وَاَزْوَاجُةٌ أُمَّهتُهُمْ
(Ahzab verse 6)
And his (the Prophet's) wives are the mothers of them (the believers).
It is the unanimous opinion of the entire Ummah that the holy wives of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) are like real mothers in two respects. One is that it is not permissible for anyone to marry them forever. The second thing is that their reverence and respect is necessary for every Ummah in the same way as that of a real mother, rather more than that, but in the matter of sight and seclusion, the order of the pure wives (may Allah be pleased with them) is not the same as that of the real mother.
Because Allah says in the Holy Quran that
وَ اِذَا سَاَلْتُمُوْهُنَّ مَتَاعًا فَسْــٴَـلُوْهُنَّ مِنْ وَّرَآءِ حِجَابٍؕ
(Ahzab verse 53)
Translation: When you ask the Prophet's wives for something, ask from behind the veil.
A Muslim can see his real mother and sit alone and talk to her, but it is obligatory for every Muslim to keep a veil from the holy wives of the Holy Prophet, and it is forbidden to sit near them in solitude.
Similarly, parents of real mother, grandparents of boys and brothers and sisters of real mother become uncles and aunts of boys،But the mothers and fathers of the holy wives of the Holy Prophet did not become the grandparents of the Ummah and the brothers and sisters of the wives of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), did not become uncles and aunts of the Ummah.
This is for all the pure wives of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) whom the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) married. Whether they died before the Holy Prophet or after the Holy Prophet. All of them are the mothers of the Ummah and for every Ummah they are worthy of respect and obligatory respect more than their real mothers.
Historians differ a little about the number of wives of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and the order of their marriages, but no one disagrees about the eleven mothers of the believers. Among them, Hazrat Khadija and Hazrat Zainab bint Khuzima (RA) died in front of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), but nine wives were present at the time of the death of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Out of these eleven mothers of the Ummah, six families were the eyes and lights of the high families of Quraysh, whose blessed names are:
1) Khadija bint Khuwayld
(2) Aisha bint Abu Bakr Siddique
(3) Hafsa Bint Umar Farooq
(4) Umm Habiba bint Abu Sufyan
(5) Umm Salma bint Aboumiyah
(6) Souda bint Zam'ah (may Allah be pleased with him).
And the four wives of Holy Prophet (PBUH), were not from the Quraysh family, but belonged to other tribes of Arabia.
They are:
(1) Zainab bint Jahsh
(2) Maimuna bint Haris
(3) Zainab bint Khuzima "Umm al-Masakeen"
(4) Jawaria bint Haris
(5) Safia bint Hayn was not of Arab descent, but a noble noblewoman of the Bani Israel family.
There is no dispute among historians that the Prophet (peace be upon him) first married Hazrat Khadijah and he did not marry any other woman as long as she was alive.
Houses of the Holy Prophet's wives
Near the Prophet's Mosque, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also built rooms for the pure wives. At that time Hazrat Bibi Souda and Hazrat Aisha were married, so they built only two houses. When other wives came , other houses were built. These houses were also built very simply. Ten hands long, six six, seven seven, hands wide mud brick walls, the roof of palm leaves was so low that a man could touch the roof while standing, there were no doors. There were blankets or tot curtains.
(Tabqaat Ibn Saad etc.)
This is the most beautiful life of our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who lived in simplicity and fulfilled his right to be the best husband.
All the comforts of the world would have been present at the feet of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) if he had prayed to Allah even once. But dedicate your prayers for the forgiveness of the ummah. And we are one that we are not even able to fulfill the right of being an ummah. May Allah have mercy on us. Ameen.
